Sunn O))) (pronounced "Sun") is an American drone metal band formed in 1998 in Seattle, Washington by Stephen O’Malley and Greg Anderson. They are known for their extremely slow, heavy, and loud sound, which blends elements of doom metal, drone, black metal, dark ambient, and noise rock. The band is also recognized for their distinctive visual style, featuring the musicians in hooded robes during live performances.
