LICHTLAERM AUDIO "Nostalgia"
LoFi Modulator | Chorus · Vibrato · Tape Warble · Memory Blur.
“Some memories blur with time — others return distorted, cracked, and beautiful.”
Nostalgia is our sonic time machine — a chorus/vibrato modulator soaked in LoFi textures and magnetic imperfections. It doesn’t just color your tone — it dissolves it into memory. Inspired by the warmth of saturated tape, the flutter of a worn-out vinyl, and the detuned beauty of half-forgotten recordings, Nostalgia adds an aching, cinematic depth to every note you play.
Just thinking about these gloriously unstable sounds fills us with — well, Nostalgia. It’s a word that captures everything chorus evokes in us: movement, longing, imperfection. Years ago, we released the Trugbild — a digitally controlled analog chorus with a few delightful LoFi twists. Nostalgia carries that spirit forward, but dives deeper, wider, and weirder. It’s the same dream, remembered through a different lens.
We’ve expanded the modulation palette far beyond the ordinary: lush sine and triangle waves meet ramp, square, and random modulation for movement that’s as subtle or surreal as you want it. Classic textures shimmer beside chaotic, tape-warped unpredictability. And with full tap tempo control and a digital LFO sweeping from 40 milliseconds to 20 seconds, you can dial in anything from gentle seasick pitch bends to near ring-mod-style modulation.
Mix controls the balance between what’s real and what’s remembered. Push it toward wet for fully immersed modulation — swirling, broken, immersive. Pull it back for subtle width, like a voice in another room. Ideal for parallel textures or blending shimmer with stark dry tones.
The Warp-control isn’t just a knob — it’s temporal manipulation. Turn it and unravel the reel. At lower settings, the movement is subtle — a gentle flutter, like a warped record turning in a candlelit room. But as you increase the delay time, you step off the edge: modulation deepens, cycles stretch, and pitch bends into psychedelia. It's like dropping acid at Woodstock — your sound liquefies, stretches, and swirls in surreal technicolor.
The Fidelity knob is erosion made musical. Roll it back and your tone decays into dust — high- & low-end roll-off, subtle saturation, and the soft crumble of analog degradation emulate worn cassettes, dusty vinyl, and forgotten bootlegs. At higher settings, clarity returns like a memory resurfacing — imperfect, but intact. The Level-control is not just a gain match — this is expressive headroom. Use it to elevate degraded signals or to drive your amp or next pedal with boosted, modulated tone that cuts through the haze.
Nostalgia is crafted for artists who chase ghosts — for those who understand that imperfection isn’t a flaw but a fingerprint. It lives in the cracks, in the tremble, in the fading end of a favorite song. Whether you’re scoring the sound of loss, love, or liminality — this is your palette.
Sonic Identities
Chorus
Warm, lush, and glowing. Think late-‘80s film scores on VHS or a long-lost shoegaze EP. Combine longer delay times and subtle blend for dimensional tone without over-saturation.
Vibrato
Wobbly, strange, and fragile. Turn up the modulation depth, blend fully wet, and let it bend your pitch like a warped reel-to-reel rediscovered in an attic.
LoFi Filter
With Fidelity rolled down, the pedal becomes a filter of forgotten decades. Use subtly for nostalgia-soaked cleans, or combine with full modulation for instant time travel.
Vinyl Simulation
Emulate the flutter and grain of a spinning 45 — static memories and mechanical ghosting. Perfect for ambient loops or melancholic chord progressions.
Double Tracking
With chorus mode, mild delay time, and a dry-heavy blend, achieve an almost subliminal doubling effect. Great for fattening leads or giving mono synths and guitars width without haze.
Slapback Delay
Crank the delay time to its lower edge and dial in a healthy mix — suddenly, Nostalgia echoes back like an old tape machine fighting to keep up. Perfect for surf riffs, vintage rockabilly tones, or injecting just the right amount of temporal smear into a lead. It’s a slapback, but cracked and flickering through a dusty reel.
